Society has Constructed and is now Operating Riding Train in Regional Park

We are making progress on the new snowshed. This shed is designed to look like the orginal snow sheds put up by the Central Pacific in the late 1800s. Here's a video of the last truss being put in place.

The Truckee Donner Railroad Society has completed our project to construct, operate, a riding train in the Regional Park. Phase 1 consists of approximately 800 feet of 7 1/2" gauge track [1/8 scale] in a loop around the playground area behind the baseball fields at Regional Park off Estates Drive at Brockway Road.

Phase 2 has begun and will expand the track by another 1,000 feet in 2016 as funds are acquired. We have also constructed a static train display for kids’ imagination play, and scale model historical structures such as snow shed, depots, and other railroad-related structures. The snow shed will be finished in 2016.

Site construction begins for Phase 2

Construction of Static Train.

Guest scale steam locomotives will also be invited to run on our railroad. The Park Railroad will also be available for private and community events as requested.

We have encouraged donations during the public run days and charge a small fee for privately-run events. We would certainly appreciate any contributions from our Society members [and anyone else!] so that we can purchase all the necessary materials and services for construction. We will recognize all donations with on-site signage, naming of riding cars, or naming of track sections, or other appropriate recognitions.

If you are interested in supporting the funding of this project by branding a car, or just helping by donating funds, please contact Bob Bell by email.

I am interested in supporting the kids train
